The SpaceDreams company
As a launch base architect, Spacedreams develops turnkey solutions and services for launchers
and spaceports.
The main concepts are: NuPad, a multi-launcher mobile modular concept for launch pads and
engine test benches; the TwinPad, the first digital twin of an interoperable launch system, and
the SeaPad, a turnkey offshore launch base.
The NuPad is the world’s first interoperable launch pad for which several launch service
providers have committed to launch. The NuPad will be implemented in various launch bases
around the world, to create the first network of standardized spaceports-as-a-service.
The NuPad concept can also be applied to test benches. Spacedreams works for several clients
for such products, for small up to super heavy launchers.
The TwinPad is the digital twin of the launch system on ground. It enables virtual commissioning
and software development for launch vehicle and launch pad implementation, as well as
simulation of cryogenic fluid, electrical and mechanical processes.
The SeaPad is a comprehensive maritime launch base, hosting the NuPad. This is the first full
operational launch base developed as a product and sold to several nations and agencies.
SpaceDreamS studies and develops ground facilities for several mini and micro launchers, as
well as for major institutions.
Spacedreams is a group formed by Spacedreams SAS and SudProjet a mechanical factory in
Montauban.
Job
We are seeking a Cryogenic Fluids & Process Engineer with 5+ years of experience to join our
advanced engineering team.
As a senior technical contributor, you will lead the design, modeling, and industrialization of
cryogenic and fluidic systems dedicated to space ground support equipment (GSE) and
propellant management systems. You will oversee projects from conceptual design to on-site
commissioning, ensuring technical excellence, safety, and operational reliability of systems
supporting space missions. You will be the product leader of our cryogenic building blocks. You
will organize and oversee the work of our cryogenic engineering team.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead the definition and validation of system architectures for cryogenic and fluidic
processes and building blocks, from preliminary sizing to detailed engineering and
commissioning
- Perform advanced functional and safety analyses, including risk assessments, FMEAs,
and compliance reviews with applicable European directives and international
standards.
- Design and optimize complex fluidic networks, producing PFDs, P&IDs, isometric
drawings, and full technical documentation.
- Develop and supervise digital modeling and simulation activities, including dynamic,
thermodynamic, and hydraulic analyses, and interpret simulation results to inform
design choices.
- Manage supplier consultations and technical evaluations, ensuring subcontractor
deliverables meet performance, quality, and schedule requirements.
- Oversee industrial manufacturing, factory acceptance testing (FAT), and on-site
commissioning, guaranteeing system qualification and compliance.
- Contribute to technical proposals, cost estimation, and feasibility studies for client
projects.
- Drive innovation in cryogenic ground processes by collaborating closely with R&D
teams.
- Oversee and manage the activities of our cryogenic and fluidic team, to reach these
objectives (technical/functional management).
Technical Expertise
- Master’s degree (Bac+5) in Industrial Process Engineering, Energy, Cryogenics,
Aerospace, or Nuclear Engineering.
- 5+ years of proven experience in the design, analysis, and optimization of complex
cryogenic and fluidic systems, preferably for space ground applications.
- Advanced proficiency in engineering and simulation tools, including:
- Autocad, Matlab, Python
- Fluid network modeling software (PipeFLO, FluidFLO, or equivalent)
- Dynamic system simulators (Simscape, Amesim, EcosimPRO, or equivalent)
- Mechanical stress analysis tools (CAEPIPE, CAESAR II, or equivalent)
- CFD modeling experience appreciated (ANSYS Fluent, COMSOL, etc.)
- Strong ability to interpret and produce PFDs, P&IDs, and isometric drawings.
- Solid understanding of European directives (PED 2014/68/EU, ATEX 2014/34/EU) and EN/ASME industrial standards.
- Proven track record in supplier management, technical validation, and system integration.
- Deep knowledge of space ground systems, propellant storage, and cryogenic transfer operations.
- Expertise in 0D/1D physical modeling and transient process simulation.
Personal Attributes
- Analytical and critical thinker, with the ability to synthesize complex technical
information.
- Autonomous, proactive, and decisive, able to lead technical subjects and mentor junior
engineers.
- Creative problem-solver, capable of introducing innovative solutions in cryogenic
processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to coordinate multidisciplinary
teams and interface with clients.
- Fluent English (spoken and written) required; knowledge of French or other European
languages is a plus.
Experience Level
- Senior engineer / technical expert with 5+ years of significant experience in cryogenic and fluidic process engineering for space ground systems.
- This role is suited for a professional ready to lead complex projects and contribute at a technical expert level in an advanced engineering environment.
We offer
- The opportunity to participate in a unique human and technical adventure within a diverse and
experienced team.
- Freedom to take action and organize your projects with appropriate resources.
- A salary commensurate with your skills and the key position you will hold.
- Additional social benefits
